Mehrman Law Office is a Charter Member of Expert Advisory and World Financial Group Expert Advisory Group, along with the other team members. The Expert Advisory team is a strategic alliance of professionals providing coordinated Financial, Estates, Trusts, CPA-CFP and Elder Care Concierge services to individuals from Medicaid-eligible to extraordinary wealth may be formed to practice the business model (no extra charge).
Mr. Mehrman’s shift to Estate and Trust Legal Services, and design of the Expert Advisory Group business model, was primarily motivated by his association with and desire to build a business in response to his personal experience “in trial by fire” for his own extended family including Jessica Hart’s loving but tragic experience handling two deaths and a mother with slowly but relentlessly progressing, at that time level-3 and now level-6, Alzheimer’s Disease the height of COVID-19 amid the collapse of the Fulton County Probate Court when both Probate Judges and most of the staff caught COVID and had to retire or take medical leave at the same time. There is a reason this occurred, which will be addressed at least in passing, at some point in the presentation.
All that love, stress, pain, temporary triumph and ultimate tragedy involved in DIY Estate, Emergency Guardian and Conservator, Probate Court, and ancillary Superior Court litigation, without effective Court supervision or assistance, led to Mr. Mehrman’s self-taught foray into his third career. He is now an experienced Medicaid expert, under Federal Law, Georgia Law and state law nationally—all states now following the Federal Guidelines with only two minor variations in California and New York. His Firm is also a Trust Services expert, both under Federal Law and State Law nationally—all states now following the Uniform Trusts Code (UTC, like the famous UCC only for Trusts instead of commercial transactions) with only minor variation. The Firm is also an Estate, Guardian, Conservator and Probate expert under Georgia Law5 and (effectively) state law nationally through joint representation with local counsel in the relevant states—all states now follow a version of the OCGA with significant variation all over the board.
The Expert Advisory Group is essentially a Wealth Advisor and CPA-CFP agnostic professional association model designed
(1) to give each Legal and/or Trust Services client the best personalized holistic estate plan available to their in view of their particular situation; and
(2) as an option, to allow the referring entity with an active insurance license to originate any Fixed index Annuity (FIA) ordered by the Mehrman Law Office as Trustee for a referred client, and retain or share in the commission under the their particular commission system. But most importantly, for each client, there will be a CPA-CFP second eyes review of all financial models, and to provide bookkeeping and income tax preparation services for the client and their Trust(s).
Quadrant-4 (Q4), Expert Elder Care Advisors, may be the most important quadrant on Expert Advisory Group chart. Jessica Hart, through her loving and incredibly difficult care for her mother, Carolyn Wilson, has become an expert in all things Elder Care. She is, dare we say, the personification of The Daughter You Wish You Had, Who Already Knows All Things Financial and Elder Care. Ms. Wilson, Mommy, and Mary Brown, with others, founded the Dunwoody Children’s Academy in the 1980s.
Mary went on to form what is believed to be the first Elder Care Concierge agency, A Place for Mom. Mary built, ran and sold her “first baby.” She then came out of retirement after her non-compete expired to form the Care Squad after spending some time as Carolyn’s personal hands-on home-care professional. Labor of Love does not quite cover the affection between these best friends. Carolyn and Mary were life-long friends, which extends to Jessica Hart, me and Scott, and the Expert Advisory Group writ large, only by the Grace of the Almighty and the luck that comes with hard work and being in the right place, professionally, physically, emotionally and financially, to be able to take advantage of the right opportunity at the right time.
